The versatility of the gesso technique allows a systematic and controlled progression of the subject.

The following painting of a jar is an example of a very detailed painting however Gesso panels also are excellent for more vigorous and direct painting techniques.

The reflective qualities of the white gesso is a huge advantage to the artist in that the light falling on a painting travels through the layers of paint and is reflected back giving the painting a luminous quality.

Gesso has sufficient “tooth” to provide excellent stability both chemically and physically while allowing the application of fine detail when and where required.
